FAQs
How does blue light affect my eyes?
Blue light is very harmful to your eyes, especially during long sessions. LED screens emit very strong blue light. This light causes your eyes to be strained, causing dryness, irritation and headaches.
Blue light also suppresses melatonin - the hormone that indicates you need to sleep. This means after recent or long screen exposure, you can't fall asleep easily and your sleep quality isn't as good as usual.
What do the different colour lenses mean?
Put simply, we intend the orange (Dawn™) lenses for day use and the red (Dusk™) lenses for night use. We also have the clearer lenses (which still filter out around 96% of blue light) for those who don't use screens as much but still want to protect their eyes. The red and orange lenses both filter out around 98% of harmful blue light.
The clearer lenses also suit people with colour blindness or those working with colours, so they can view real colour depth. Overall, we recommend picking a pair of orange and a pair of red lenses to fully cover yourself.
What are the benefits of these glasses?
By filtering out the blue light, you will see many benefits. Your eye strain is reduced, minimising bad effects such as fatigue, headaches and migraines, as well as reducing that blurry vision you get after coming off a period of long screen time.
They also are shown to improve focus and productivity, and have many positive effects on your sleep. They reduce the time it takes to fall asleep, increase sleep quality and can reduce the formation of dark circles under your eyes.
How do these glasses help my sleep?
Your brain produces a hormone called melatonin, which signals that it’s time to sleep.
During the day:
- Sunlight contains blue light
- Your brain interprets this as “stay awake and alert”
At night:
- Melatonin rises
- Your body prepares for sleep
But when you look at phones, laptops, TVs, and LED lighting, they emit strong blue wavelengths (~450–495nm).
Your brain still thinks its daytime and so it reduces melatonin production.
Effects:
- You feel less sleepy
- It takes longer to fall asleep
- Sleep quality drops
Are these glasses safe to wear all day?
Yes, these glasses are completely safe to wear as long as would like - particularly if you are behind a screen for most of it.
